I'm a little behind on this news, but it looks like a "Group of 7" is going to make a bid for SunGard. The critics of the deal are pointing the finger at the evil investment groups and saying they are bad news for customers. What's bad news for customers is a company that isn't growing and isn't innovating. What's bad for the owners (the shareholders) is a stock that been stuck in the same trading range for 5 years. What's bad for employees is both of the above. Breaking up this company into 3 would offer relief on the points above and have the added benefit of stimulating a consolidation in the security and enterprise app management business, which is of course good for guys like me.
