Not sure what my opinion on this is... Real has launched a blog to combat the PR from Apple regarding their moves in the downloadable music wars.
On one hand, it's a pretty kewl marketing vehicle, but I bristle at the notion that it's a blog because it's utterly lacking in human-ness. Sure, there's reader comments and, what appears to be, columns from notable people in the company. There's even a blogroll, but it's pretty thin with just a couple of entries.
It appears that there are postings submitted by people who may (?) not be part of the company, in which case they are cleverly rolling a community marketing effort. Either way, it would seem that the effort hinges on whether or not people are pissed off at Apple... so in a way, it's not a Real marketing effort but a anti-Apple marketing effort. Hmmm... I'm going to defer to the marketing pros to give me an opinion on that.
Yep, it's just a fancy marketing site cloaked in some blog-like clothes. But it does have a syndication capability and a Q&A with Devo, so it can't be all that bad.
