- Technorati closed a Series A, but isn't making a big deal about it. Congratulations to Dave and the team. I believe that DFJ led, no idea on the size of the round.
- Agilix Labs - Orem, UT; a developer of mobilized enterprise software used to access, capture, organize, search, and share information; $4.35 million; round not specified; vSpring Capital, ASH Capital, Intel Capital.
- CXO Systems - Waltham, MA; a provider of a Web services-based business application solution that enables a one-touch, comprehensive view of multiple business functions in real time; $7 million; Series B; Ironside Ventures, Cisco Systems, GrandBanks Capital, Kodiak Venture Partners.
- Large-scale distributed virtual world technology products maker Forterra Systems (formerly There, Inc.), of Menlo Park, says it raised $14 million in a new round of funding. The round was led by Jerusalem Venture Partners with existing investors Sutter Hill Ventures and Chichen-Itza Ventures participating.
- Cranite reports it raised $10 million in a private financing from existing investors. The funding round was led by Diamondhead Ventures and includes JK&B Capital, BV Capital, Industry Ventures, Pacifica Fund and Selby Ventures. This company does wireless network security solutions.
- PolyServe - Beaverton, OR; a developer of server and storage systems software products for enterprise and Internet data centers; $20 million; Series D; Fidelity Ventures, Greylock, New Enterprise Associates (NEA), Roda Group.
Liquidity:
- Avid Technology, a provider of software, hardware and software systems for digital media production, management and distribution, acquired M-Audio, a provider of digital audio and MIDI solutions for electronic musicians and audio professionals, for approximately $175 million.
- McAfee acquired Foundstone, a provider of software, services and education to help companies protect critical assets, for $86 million.
- Network equipment maker Cisco Systems, Inc., of San Jose, says it's buying privately held P-Cube, Inc. of Sunnyvale, a developer of IP (Internet Protocol) service control platforms, for about $200 million in cash and options.
- Agilent Technologies Inc. says it's buying privately held Silicon Genetics, of Redwood City, which makes software used in life science discovery. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed. ** this is an interesting acquisition
- MFORMA, a provider of wireless entertainment content, acquired FingerTwitch, a provider of porting mobile applications to multiple devices and platforms, for an undisclosed amount.
- Yahoo acquired FareChase, a provider of a search technology that retrieves prices, options, availability and booking links from various travel websites, for an undisclosed amount.
