Message in the SixApart Typepad status blog:
We are currently experiencing some slowness within the application. WeYeah, no shit. They should make that post a sticky and just change the date on it at 12am everyday. It's unfuckingreal how slow Typepad has been for the last week and this really blows a hole in the whole notion that the problem SixApart was having over the last couple of months was a datacenter that was bursting at the seams. I really don't know how anyone at Typepad can say that they were experiencing a linear scale problem (more servers = better performance) when it's entirely apparent at this point that they have serious issues with the software architecture. Why else would they be turning the stat package off everyday in an attempt to improve performance?
are actively researching this issue, and will post more information as
it becomes available.
Anil Dash was very gracious in commenting on one of my many posts on this subject a while back. I appreciate their efforts to be open with their customers and all that, but at some point they just really need to get past these performance issues and deliver software that works and isn't frustrating.
I let it out a couple of days ago that I have been developing a new blog on my own hosting provider (btw, it's Wordpress). If you want to bypass Typepad, you can go to this blog because I'm posting everything to both places until I do a full switchover. Please bear with me becuase I'm still working on the templates and other features, it's been a long time since I last did any coding so it's taking me a little longer than most. And yes, I know there is too much red, I will be changing that.
