I was in the shower this morning thinking that i'd been in this "identity" business a long time....and then i kinda had to laugh at myself because it really hasn't been a long time. I mean, i wasn't here for x509. I wasn't even here when Zoomit came out w/ that oddity known as the meta-directory. Hell, I wasn't even "in the game" when Passport was released. In fact, I found digital identity (or it found me) in January 2002 -- so really, not that long at all.....

...but boy it sure feels like it some days (yesterday was one). From starting a conference to building Ping, the shit's exhausting, ya know?

Anyway, so there I was thinking about why i think its still exciting (outside of the obvious - fame, fortune and fast cars! ;-) .....really, i think its cuz we have so far to go. No, that's not quite it. Its more like - there's so much more story to tell.

I think (with humility) that i've played some small part in helping to shape the story these last couple years -- writing, conference content, lots of discussions, blogging, etc....and i'm not talking about the "everyone's a journalist" thing - cuz le
